It was informally known as “Waterfield,” as the area was made up of many small ponds and rivers that ran through the center of the village. The town is spread over 6 square miles and is filled with beautiful homes, excellent schools, convenient transportation and a picturesque downtown that is full of shops and dining at your fingertips. Additional recreational activities include the Winchester Swim and Tennis Club and the Winchester Country Club. Winchester has several elementary schools, a middle school and high school and is often regarded as having one of the best public school systems in the state. Another highlight of the town is the accessibility and convenience. Located just off of Route 93 and also accessed via the commuter rail line, transit in and out of Winchester has made it a highly sought after “W” town to call home.
